This photograph shows a woman looking in the mirror after a beauty treatment. I find myself wondering about the photographer, another unknown artist, like me in my studio, trying to capture something elusive. What were they thinking as they snapped the shot? What kind of exchange happened between them? Were they trying to capture a mood, a feeling, or something else entirely? The photograph captures a moment of anticipation and the satisfaction of transformation. I like the composition and the way it emphasizes the woman’s expression and posture, while also providing a glimpse into the environment. Those portraits on the wall - they seem to speak of an image of female beauty that still holds sway today. Isn’t it funny how we're all just constantly riffing off of each other, copying, stealing, and remixing ideas across time and space? It's this endless conversation that keeps art alive and kicking. Artists build on each other's work, adding their own spin and pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
