Erik Pauelsen's "Antik offerscene?" is a delicate pencil sketch depicting a scene of offering. Two figures, possibly goddesses, stand on either side of a burning urn on an altar, their gaze directed towards a central figure shrouded in a wreath, perhaps a deceased soul. The sketch, dated 1749-1790, is a preparatory drawing for a larger work, showcasing Pauelsen's skill in composition and capturing the emotional weight of a ritual offering. Currently housed in the SMK - Statens Museum for Kunst, the drawing provides insight into the creative process of a Danish artist during the late 18th century.
