It's Pop Art with a distinct Japanese flavor, wouldn't you agree? Like Kabuki theater crashing a Warhol party. It makes you wonder what Yokoo is trying to say by putting all these images together. Are we “ready for foods” and “joy,” as the text insists, and if so, what is the price of that consumption? Editor: I see what you mean. The text feels like advertising slogans, a bizarre call to action. Curator: Precisely! It’s the bombardment of information, the sensory overload, questioning if the promise of joy is just another product to be consumed. And those bodies, upside down like that! Are they falling or rising? Is it spiritual ecstasy, or some form of societal collapse? Or, more playfully, might the whole thing just be one wild invitation to travel with the New Haven Railroad! Editor: I didn’t consider that possibility, haha. This piece asks so many questions, though! All these different appropriated visuals, it gives you something new to see each time you look.
