Kinder Album made this striking image, *Dozens of Civilians were Killed by Metal Darts from Russian Artillery,* using delicate washes of colour. It looks like watercolour and maybe ink on paper. The marks are applied carefully, a kind of nervous control, but the image itself is anything but controlled. It's loose and raw, the figure is vulnerable, pierced by these darts. Album captures an overwhelming sense of fear and pain. The title says ‘dozens’ but for me, it’s about one body, one person’s suffering. Look at the figure’s face, the expression is really key, a mix of anger and agony. This piece reminds me of Kiki Smith's sculptures, where the body is also a site of trauma. Both artists reject neat, easily digestible narratives, opting instead for a messy, ambiguous vision. I think that's important. Art isn’t always about answers; sometimes, it’s about asking difficult questions.
