This side chair, crafted by American furniture maker Felix Huntington between 1770 and 1785, showcases the elegant, refined style of the Chippendale period. The chair's intricate, pierced back splat, reminiscent of Gothic architectural motifs, and the carefully executed, brass-nailed upholstery demonstrate the high craftsmanship of the time. The chair's graceful lines and understated beauty would have graced the homes of well-to-do families in colonial America. It is currently housed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
