This is an anonymous photograph of Plantage Clevia, and what hits me first is how it's all about the process of looking. The texture of the photograph, the soft greys and blurred edges, it feels more like a memory than a sharp depiction. It's like trying to recall a dream. The light reflecting off the water, that central band, feels especially painterly - like a Rothko canvas, all soft edges and atmospheric depth. There's a certain ambiguity here that I appreciate. It's not about capturing a perfect image, but about evoking a feeling, a mood. It makes me think of other artists, like Gerhard Richter, who embrace the blur and the uncertainty inherent in both photography and memory.
