Ai Weiwei's "Logos" is an expansive wallpaper installation of gold, repeated emblems on white. I imagine him methodically arranging and repeating the motifs, stepping back, adjusting, and tweaking until a mesmerizing visual rhythm emerges. There's something hypnotic about the golden pattern. Each design appears to be made up of objects, symbols, and shapes which repeat to create kaleidoscopic effects. I wonder about the act of creation itself. Did Weiwei intend for these gold emblems to become abstract meditations on consumer culture or perhaps a personal reflection on his own brand? The texture of the wallpaper invites us to reflect upon the ideas of craft and labour. Like any good wallpaper, the surface beckons closer inspection to reveal the complexities of each individual symbol. It's like looking at the work of William Morris, but updated for our post-internet world. Ultimately, the meaning of "Logos" remains open, inviting you to contemplate themes of repetition, identity, and the interplay between art and commerce.
