This Sari, of unknown date and authorship, is held at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. The colours! A beautiful palette of blues, greens, and purples that feels both vibrant and grounded. There’s a tension, isn’t there, between the planned design, the overall order, and the slight imperfections that come from the process of weaving. I always find something really human in that kind of tension, where you see the hand of the maker but also the idea behind it. Look at the way the colours bleed into each other, creating a soft, hazy effect. It’s not about perfect lines or shapes; it’s about how these colours interact and create a sense of movement. This Sari reminds me a little of Sonia Delaunay, actually. Delaunay also explored the relationship between colour and form. With this in mind, it's clear that art isn't about fixed answers. It’s about embracing ambiguity, asking questions, and seeing where they lead.
