Editor: This is Bruce Conner's "Take Two, D.H.O.M.S., Vol. I, No. 6" from an unknown date, a small print in the Harvard Art Museums. It has such a strange, dreamlike quality. What do you make of it? Curator: The medium is the message here. Conner's work with found imagery, and collage was a comment on mass production and consumption. How does appropriating and recontextualizing pre-existing images change their meaning and the way they are perceived? Editor: So, he's using the materials themselves to critique society? Curator: Exactly. Conner is asking us to consider not just *what* we see, but *how* it's made and circulated, and the hands that shape its creation. Editor: That makes me see the print in a completely different light. Thanks! Curator: Indeed. Recognizing this invites a deeper reflection on the art object and commodification.
