This anonymous “Desk and Bookcase” from 1760–1770 is a prime example of American Rococo style furniture. Its elaborate, asymmetrical form with a carved pediment and brass accents demonstrates the influence of European design trends on colonial America. The piece features a writing desk with a hinged flap, a bookcase, and multiple drawers, making it both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. This desk is currently on display at The Art Institute of Chicago.
