This print, *Boekhandelaar op een kade in Parijs*, was made by Tavík František Šimon, and I'm guessing sometime around the early twentieth century. There's a way of seeing here that’s all about touch; you can sense the artist’s hand as they drag the image into being, pulling color across the page. The colors are muted, like old photographs, yet they're still so vibrant. Look closely at the bookstands and how the printed colors come together to describe the different book covers, each one an adventure or story. This reminds me of Bonnard, of course, the way he builds these intimate, domestic scenes with a kind of tender touch. It’s this gentle, exploratory feel, a little bit like a diary entry. You get the sense that art is about seeing, feeling, and then finding a way to share that with others. It's not about perfection; it’s about the process.
