Winterveldtocht in Frankrijk, inname van Parijs en verbanning van Napoleon 1815

This small silver medal by Johann Thomas Stettner commemorates the events of 1815, the year Napoleon was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo and exiled to Saint Helena. The front of the medal shows a female figure representing peace holding a branch of olive. The inscription around the figure reads: “The Peace That Blessed Reich On Earth.” The reverse shows the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the inscription “The Wonder Of The Victory”. These medals were often small and personal, intended to commemorate historical events.
