Lech Jankowski made this small painting, "wietrzny tab ur et," using oil on canvas. It’s like looking into a strange little world. The textures are thick and crusty, almost like dried mud or plaster. I wonder what tool Jankowski used to apply the paint. Maybe a palette knife, or even just his fingers? Look at the way the light seems to emanate from behind the stool, those bright white rays cutting through the darkness. I'm drawn to the little dark patch in the lower right corner. Is it a hole? A shadow? It adds another layer of mystery to the piece. This reminds me a little of Guston. Both artists create these really personal, almost dreamlike spaces. I love how Jankowski embraces ambiguity, leaving so much open to interpretation. It’s a reminder that art is an ongoing conversation, not a fixed statement.
