This "Ale Glass" is a clear glass goblet with a short stem and round foot. The piece is decorated with an intricate, repeating pattern of embossed circles and leaves. This pressed-glass piece was made by the Union Glass Company and is a great example of decorative glasswork from the mid-19th century, now on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The glass was likely used for serving ale or other beverages.
