This print, Très Parisien, 1927, No. 11: 14.- COTE D'AZUR, made by an anonymous artist, is all about capturing a certain mood. I can imagine the artist thinking a lot about color, probably mixing inks to get those pale shades of rose and green just right. There's a lightness to the whole thing, like a gentle breeze off the Côte d'Azur, but it’s also balanced with darker accents for definition. The artist really nailed the texture of fabric, the way it hangs and folds. It reminds me a bit of Dufy, who was also obsessed with fashion, but this feels more intimate, like a page torn from a personal sketchbook. Artists are always stealing from each other, building on what came before. It's an ongoing conversation and exchange of ideas across time. Ultimately, this little print is an invitation to dream, to imagine yourself in another time and place, dressed to the nines, ready for anything.
