This "Sauce Dish" was created by the New England Glass Company sometime between 1818 and 1888. Notice how the glass is a striking combination of red and yellow. Its small size and round form make it appear delicate, almost jewel-like. What truly captures the eye is how the colors shift from a deep, rich red around the rim to a softer, golden yellow at the base. This transition isn't just about aesthetics. It's a play with perception. The light interacts with the glass, creating an ever-changing pattern of hues. Each facet seems to catch and bend the light, challenging our understanding of depth and form. This dish does more than just hold sauce; it redefines how we see color and form, prompting us to reconsider the everyday objects around us.
