Untitled. Winter Album 2016

Kinder Album, born in 1982, made this untitled artwork with watercolor. It seems to me that this painting came into being through a slow process. I’m curious about what it was like for the artist when they made it. I imagine them thinking a lot about intimacy and vulnerability. The colours are pale and subdued, like whispers, and the surface texture looks smooth, maybe even a little slippery. The painting captures a specific moment, a fleeting exchange, and this can communicate a whole range of feelings from tenderness to playfulness. The overall effect is kind of dreamlike, don’t you think? Artists, across time, inspire one another. It’s clear that this piece is a form of embodied expression, embracing ambiguity and uncertainty, and allowing for multiple interpretations.
