Miriam Schapiro made this ‘Pagoda’ who knows when, using fabric and paint to build up a dense, pattern-filled heart. I love how the process isn’t hidden here; it’s all about the layering and collaging. The texture is so alive. You can almost feel the different fabrics, smooth and rough, layered on top of each other. The colors are intense, a mix of floral patterns and abstract shapes that create a real visual buzz. There's this one little patch, near the bottom, where the colors seem to vibrate, like a tiny explosion of joy. It reminds me of those crazy quilts my grandma used to make, each piece telling a story. Schapiro’s work makes me think about other artists like Yayoi Kusama, who also use pattern and repetition to create immersive experiences. It’s like she’s saying, "Art is a conversation, an ongoing exchange of ideas." And honestly? I’m here for it.
