Pablo Picasso made this still life with lemon and oranges, but when? It doesn't matter! What's great is how everything is cut into shapes and rearranged, like the painting itself is a deconstructed fruit bowl. I bet Picasso was thinking hard about Cezanne, who made still lives feel so solid and real. But Picasso wasn't trying to copy reality. He wanted to show you all sides of something at once. He’s all like, what if I show you the front, side, and maybe even the inside, all at the same time? Look at that bottle, that orange square really pops! It’s like he took a normal bottle, chopped it up, and then reassembled it in a way that’s more about feeling than seeing. You can sense Picasso’s struggle and playfulness – a conversation between what he sees and what he feels. All painters look at other painters. We are all in this mad conversation, even now.
