Editor: Here we have Jacques Lipchitz's "Picador, Bas Relief". It feels very tactile, doesn't it? A raw, earthy quality to the terracotta material. What's your take on this piece? Curator: The materiality speaks volumes. The choice of terracotta connects the work to a history of craft and labor. The rough, unrefined texture suggests a directness, a physicality in the making that challenges notions of artistic detachment. Editor: That’s a really interesting point. So, rather than focusing on the bullfight narrative, you're drawn to the act of creation itself? Curator: Precisely. The visible traces of the artist's hand, the inherent properties of the clay – these elements reveal the social context of its production and invite us to consider the labor involved. What do you think about the subject choice in relationship to the medium? Editor: I didn't think of that, it makes me see it differently. Thanks! Curator: Glad to share!
