Ľudovít Čordák painted this view of a "House on Mäsiarská street in Košice" using oils, and it feels like he really enjoyed the process. Look at how he's put down these hazy, soft colors. The brushwork feels very gestural, almost like he’s sculpting the light as much as the buildings. You can see in the rendering of the walls how the paint is thin in some areas, thick in others, creating a real sense of depth and atmosphere. And what about those blues and greens along the bottom of the building on the right? There’s a lovely looseness to this piece which reminds me of some of the early Impressionists. But unlike them, Čordák isn’t too worried about capturing the exact likeness. It’s more about the feeling of being there, the mood of a sunny afternoon in this quiet street. Art's not about fixed meanings, right? It's more like a conversation, an ongoing exchange of ideas, and a way of seeing that keeps evolving.
