This amber-colored glass flask, produced by the Kentucky Glass Works between 1825 and 1860, is a striking example of American glassmaking. The flask features a central motif of an eagle, the national symbol, surrounded by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. The design is pressed into the glass, a technique that became popular in the mid-19th century. The flask, now part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection, exemplifies a time when American craft and identity were intertwined.
