This small artwork, *Der var saa dejligt ude paa Landet...*, by Fritz Syberg, looks like it was quickly captured with pencil and watercolor, like a sketch done on the spot. I can imagine Syberg standing there, maybe a little hunched over his paper, trying to grab the feeling of the countryside. There's a sense of immediacy in the marks he’s making. Look at the way he scratches those lines for the grass. It’s so fast and loose! The colors are light and watery. And the horizon kind of dissolves into the sky, right? I bet he was thinking about trying to capture that sense of space and light. It reminds me a little of some of the plein air painters, but with a kind of personal twist. You can feel Syberg's hand in it, his own way of seeing. It’s like he’s saying, "Hey, look at this! Isn't it beautiful?" And you know what? It really is. These paintings are an ongoing conversation that inspires us to look at the world in new ways.
