This piece, Untitled, made with what looks like markers, by Kinder Album, born in 1982, conjures up this dreamy, almost hallucinatory vibe, right? It’s all about the process, you can just feel the hand of the artist moving across the page. I'm struck by the way the colors almost vibrate against each other, the blues of the trees against the pink sky, and then that yellow path, bam! It’s like the artist is turning up the volume on reality. The naked figure, so vulnerable and yet totally at ease, typing away in the trunk of his car, it’s just such a surreal image. I love how the artist uses line to define form, but then lets the colors bleed and blend, creating this sense of movement and energy. That scribble in the corner is especially delicious. There’s something about this piece that reminds me of outsider art, like Henry Darger or Bill Traylor. Art that’s raw, unfiltered, and totally unique. It's a reminder that art is a conversation, an ongoing exchange of ideas, and that there's always room for new voices, new perspectives, new ways of seeing the world.
