Vasiliy Ryabchenko created this untitled painting which, I imagine, emerged through layers of trial, error, and intuition. The dominant palette of blues and browns, punctuated by soft pinks and yellows, gives it a dreamy, ethereal quality. I like to think about the artist in the act of creation: standing before the canvas, brush in hand, Ryabchenko is layering washes of color, scraping back into the surface, allowing chance and intention to play off each other. See how the paint is applied in thin, translucent layers, creating depth and luminosity. The texture of the surface is alive with drips and splatters. The overall effect is one of spontaneity and openness. Ryabchenko’s work reminds me that painting is an ongoing conversation across time, a way to capture the fleeting, often contradictory nature of experience. Embracing ambiguity and uncertainty allows for multiple interpretations and meaning over fixed or definitive readings.
