This is Carlos Sablòn’s Tête de cheval, painted with oils, where the artist seems to be feeling out a language all of his own. It’s like watching someone think through a problem, but with paint. The surface has a kind of dreaminess, and you can see the artist building up the layers to create the horse’s form. Look at the way he's handled the horse's mane, it's almost like he's sculpting with the brush, laying down these dark, swirling lines that give it this incredible sense of depth and movement. Then there are these little red… things? Like scattered berries or drops of blood that add a touch of the surreal. It’s a world of its own, and it reminds me a bit of Frida Kahlo’s surreal self-portraits, where the personal and the symbolic blend into something deeply felt and utterly unique. Art isn't about answers, it’s about the questions that linger long after you’ve walked away.
