This drawing, by Alevtyna Kakhidze, appears to be made with felt-tip pens, and it looks like a flurry of associations and critical reflections. I imagine the artist quickly filling the white space with ideas. The drawing's kind of wild, right? A multi-headed snake is at the center, with currency symbols on one head and flames shooting out of the other, labeled "irrational." The writing is really interesting. "Cancel Russian Culture is Medicine," is written at the bottom, with a man, a clock, and the word "time," next to it. What I love about drawings is that they feel like a direct connection to the artist's thought process. You can almost see her brain working, wrestling with these big, complicated ideas about culture, economics, and politics, right there on the page. It’s like we’re looking at a visual diary entry or a stream-of-consciousness diagram. Kakhidze is in conversation with something here, and in turn, she’s speaking to us.
