Rudolph Weisenborn made this abstract print, Moonglow, sometime during his career. I love how the colours are all these flat planes that create something that feels like both a collage and a stained-glass window. There's this really interesting green shape near the centre, it feels both organic and architectural, like a landscape but also like a building. And that blue striped section - the way the stripes play against the pink form in the middle is really cool. It's like Weisenborn is setting up these little visual puzzles, inviting us to piece together our own understanding of what we're seeing. The layering of shapes and colours creates depth, even though everything is pretty flat. This piece reminds me a bit of Stuart Davis, with the way he uses bold shapes and colours to create a dynamic composition. But Weisenborn has his own thing going on, this kind of playful abstraction that invites you to get lost in the details. It’s a reminder that art is always an exchange of ideas.
