This "Composition" was made by Hryhorii Havrylenko with watercolor, and it looks like he's really feeling out the edges of each color block. It’s so process oriented, isn’t it? I think about how the slight imperfections let us into the artist's mind. There’s no hiding here, it’s all on display, all surface. I'm drawn to the pink, just slightly off-center, that bleeds into the blue like a memory fading at the edges. The pigment is a bit grainy in places, like it's been overworked but in a good way, right? This feels like a conversation with Klee, maybe, but without the whimsical figures, or perhaps Agnes Martin in its dedication to the grid format. It reminds us that art isn’t about answers, but about seeing and feeling.
