Curator: This untitled print is by British artist Gordon House, who was born in 1932 and died in 2004. It's part of the Tate collection, and we think it's about 50 by 70 cm. Editor: Oof, it feels heavy, doesn't it? Like looking through a rain-streaked window at… rising suns, maybe? Or setting ones, depending on your mood. Curator: House worked across painting, sculpture, and printmaking, often exploring geometric abstraction. I think this print speaks to his broader interest in the interplay between form and texture. Editor: There's a real tension here, between the sharp geometries of the red semi-circles, and the almost chaotic scribbles of grey, navy, and the little streaks of scarlet trying to break free. Makes you wonder what he was feeling, what he was trying to wrestle with. Curator: Absolutely. It's a fascinating glimpse into the artist's exploration of visual language, and the emotive power of simple forms within a complex field. Editor: Yeah, maybe simple isn't the right word. Intense, maybe. Makes you want to grab a paintbrush and argue back.
