"Landscape" is an etching by French artist Jean-Baptiste-Claude Chatelain (1705-1758), dating from 1725-1763. The print depicts a rural scene with a winding path leading through a forested valley. In the foreground, two figures walk along the path, one carrying a bucket. In the middle distance, a group of people are gathered on the path, while a cluster of trees and a rocky outcropping dominate the background. Chatelain is known for his landscape prints, often featuring views of the countryside and scenes of everyday life. This etching, now in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is characteristic of his work. It is a fine example of the 18th-century English landscape tradition and exemplifies the beauty of natural scenery.
