Franz Kline made this "Seated Nude" drawing with pencil on paper. It’s all about process, right? You can see Kline feeling his way around the form, line by line. It’s not about getting it perfect; it’s about the search. The pencil marks are delicate, almost tentative, but they build up to describe a figure with real presence. Look at the way he renders the torso – a tangle of lines that somehow still reads as solid. The extended leg is so simple, yet so full of energy. You can imagine the model shifting, Kline adjusting. It reminds me a little of de Kooning’s drawings – that same restless energy, that willingness to let the process be visible. Ultimately, it’s about the conversation between the artist and the subject, the back-and-forth of looking and responding. Art isn’t about answers, it’s about the questions we ask.
