This photograph captures a celebration at the technical school in Bandung, though we don't know exactly when or by whom it was taken. I can only imagine what it was like for the photographer to decide where to stand and when to take the shot. You get the sense that this was a special night. Everyone is dressed up and smiling, with festive decorations strung across the ceiling. What were they celebrating? A graduation? The end of the school year? I wonder what kind of music was playing and how long they had spent planning the event. I'm curious what kind of camera they were using and how long it took to take the shot. I bet that photographer was excited to see how the image would turn out. It’s like when you finish a painting, and you are not sure what to think of it. Every artist leaves a little piece of themselves in their work, so that photo probably meant a lot to them. I wonder if anyone recognized it. Artists are always having a conversation across time, you know, inspiring each other to see the world in new ways.
