Tongs 1797 - 1800

"Tongs" is a piece of silverware created by Joel Sayre, an American silversmith, between 1797 and 1800. The silver tongs, a common household utensil of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, demonstrate the craftsmanship of Sayre, a notable silversmith who worked in New York City. The tongs are currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
