Samuel Leech Maskrey, Right Field, Des Moines Prohibitionists, from the Old Judge series (N172) for Old Judge Cigarettes 1888

This is a trade card depicting baseball player Samuel Leech Maskrey in a baseball uniform. It was part of a series of cards produced by Goodwin & Company in 1888 to promote Old Judge cigarettes. The trade card features a black and white photograph of Maskrey, a player for the Des Moines Prohibitionists baseball team, in a standing pose, holding a baseball bat. The card is an excellent example of the "Old Judge" series, which included hundreds of images of major and minor league players.
