This is a postcard by Vittorio Pica, probably made with ink and collage elements. I love that it’s a real, material thing meant to travel and communicate. The smudged stamps and blurred handwriting give it such a lovely, ephemeral feel. Look at how the ink pools and fades, creating these accidental textures. You can almost feel the urgency in the scrawled words "Très Pressé”. It’s like a little performance of communication, where the physical traces of the sending and receiving become part of the message. The official looking logo and stamp sit alongside the freehand marks of handwriting - it reminds me a little of Kurt Schwitters' collages, how he brought together found elements and personal gestures. It’s this mix of the official and the intimate that makes the piece sing for me, suggesting that art is really just about making marks and sending messages, like a conversation between friends.
