Editor: So, this is "27. The Same as the Last, but Darker at the Bottom than the Top" by Alexander Cozens. It looks like an etching, mostly tones of grey. I find the title really strange. What do you make of it? Curator: Strange indeed, but perhaps intentionally playful? To me, it's about capturing fleeting moments, a cloudscape maybe, with a focus less on perfect representation and more on the feeling of light and atmosphere. Do you see how the hatching creates depth? Editor: Yes, I see it. So it's not about being precise, but about capturing an impression? Curator: Exactly! Cozens was very interested in using blots to suggest landscape forms. It is almost musical, don't you think? Editor: That makes sense. I see it differently now. Curator: That's the beauty of art. We each bring our own perspective to it.
