Richard Paul Lohse made this ‘Untitled’ print with, what looks like, screen printing, layering colours over one another in these modular squares. The interesting thing is that while it looks so rigid, you can feel the hand in it. I love the way that particular shade of purple, almost indigo, is used as both a background and a foreground, which kind of messes with your perception. Then that bright red, next to the bold, saturated yellow, feels like a punch of pure energy. I think it’s the slight imperfections, the way the colors bleed just a bit at the edges, that makes this feel so human. For me, this piece recalls the work of Josef Albers with the way the colors create a sense of depth and movement. It's like a conversation between artists, each pushing the boundaries of color and form. It reminds us that art isn't about answers, but about endless questions and possibilities.
