Babak-Matveev's "SOLOHA" looks to me like it was composed with a digital brush. It’s brimming with colors, and the composition seems to be built up, layer by layer, detail by detail. I imagine Babak-Matveev meticulously building this scene, maybe starting with that figure in a blue skirt or the rooster standing on the daisy stool, placing each element with care, the same way one might arrange items in a still life. You can feel how the surface, like the scene, is built up with all the color and details popping out and overlapping. The artist invites us into this rich world of floral motifs, tapestries, and domestic interiors. I'm reminded of the vibrant folk art traditions in Ukrainian culture, where a similar approach to color and pattern can be found. Artists, you know, we're always borrowing, sharing, and responding to what others have done. It is a continuing conversation across different eras and places, where creative people keep challenging and inspiring each other.
