This small, gold-plated, pear-shaped scent bottle, or *reukfles*, is an exquisite example of 18th century Dutch decorative arts. Dating back to the mid-18th century, it features intricate enamel work depicting scenes of rural life, with one side showing a *boerenkeuken*, or farmer’s kitchen interior, and the other side depicting a *boerendans*, or farmer’s dance. The enamel decoration is rich in detail and color, showcasing the craftsmanship of an anonymous artist. This piece, now housed in the Rijksmuseum, exemplifies the elegance and beauty of Dutch decorative arts during this period.
