This is a silver coin, a "Hollandse kwart groot," created between 1434 and 1440 by Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy, who ruled from 1419 until his death in 1467. The coin features a cross pattee and a circular inscription. Though small, with a diameter of just 1.7 centimeters and a weight of only 0.51 grams, this coin is an example of the currency used during the Burgundian Netherlands in the 15th century.
