Editor: This untitled print by Felix Rozen features these horizontal bands of intricate, almost chaotic lines in a range of colors. It feels like looking at code, or maybe the grooves of a record. How do you interpret this work? Curator: It's fascinating to consider this piece through the lens of systems and structures, and how they relate to control and freedom. The regimented bands suggest imposed order, but the chaotic lines within each band resist that control. Does this piece speak to you about the tension between individual expression and societal constraints? Editor: I hadn't thought about it that way, but I can see that tension now, and it makes the print so much more interesting. Thanks! Curator: My pleasure. Art invites us to question those very structures.
