"Zesendertig gezichten van Osaka" (Thirty-Six Views of Osaka) is a 1947 album of woodblock prints by Japanese artist Akamatsu Rinsaku (1878-1953). The album, now in the Rijksmuseum, features a simple cover with a black ink sketch of Osaka Castle, a symbol of the city, with a mountain and a horizon in the background. The title, written in calligraphy, emphasizes the subject and number of prints in the collection. This work is an example of traditional Japanese woodblock printing (ukiyo-e), a style famous for its detailed depiction of everyday life and landscape.
