Život je igra – The game of life 2012

Dragan Ilić Di Vogo made this dreamy oil painting of a boy, statues, and a horse jumping out of a lake. Looking at this, I imagine Di Vogo standing in front of the canvas, layering the oil paints with meticulous brushstrokes. It’s kind of surreal, a little bit like Magritte, but with more of a photo-realist style. You know, the kind of painting that looks so realistic you can almost feel the water splashing? I wonder what Di Vogo was thinking when he positioned the boy next to the Greek statues like that. Is it about youth and history, or innocence and knowledge? The horse running into the lake is just like the moment of inspiration when ideas come suddenly, breaking the surface with energy. What’s the game of life, after all? It’s about making your own dream world and splashing around a bit.
