This screenprint of Queen Beatrix by Andy Warhol captures her with these cool blues, and oranges. I can just imagine Andy in his studio, playing with the color combinations. It makes me wonder what it was like for him to choose those colors. What do they mean? Well, the process of silkscreen printing is so immediate. He probably layered color after color, making adjustments on the fly. Like me, he embraced a kind of improvisation. Look at the way that orange sort of sits on top of the blue. It's bold and unapologetic. Those little shifts create this electric feel. Warhol knew what he was doing. It’s like he’s reminding us that art isn't about perfection. It’s about that energy, that spark of life that comes through when we allow ourselves to make mistakes. And that permission is what makes art so interesting, isn’t it?
