Lorser Feitelson made ‘Dancers – Magical Forms’ with oil on canvas, but I can’t tell you exactly when! These aren't your typical dancers, right? More like spectral shapes caught mid-swirl. I'm drawn to how Feitelson laid down the paint, thin and almost chalky, creating a velvety surface that's both inviting and distant. The blues recede, the oranges advance; the push and pull creates a sense of space that’s totally dreamlike. Check out that little smudge of pinkish-red in the lower centre - it’s like a tiny heartbeat. It's a microcosm of the whole piece, a splash of color that anchors the more ambiguous forms around it, the way a tiny gesture can carry so much meaning. Feitelson's work reminds me a bit of Hilma af Klint, both searching for ways to visualize the invisible through color and form. It's like they're both saying, "Here, look at what I found in the space between thoughts."
