Arsen Savadov made this untitled painting with what looks like acrylic on canvas, and it’s a trip. I love how the painting seems to be fighting with itself. The red figure seems both solid and dissolving, like it's there, but not quite. The white outlines are like ghosts of forms, or maybe a diagram of the painting’s own thought process. It reminds me that artmaking is a conversation, a back-and-forth between intention and accident. The surface is rough, alive, with drips and splatters that feel raw, like exposed nerves. Take a look at the red figure near the bottom. The way the paint bleeds and drips suggests a kind of violent outpouring. Savadov is playing with texture and depth, pushing and pulling us in different directions. It’s not about perfection, but about embracing the messy, unpredictable nature of being human. It puts me in mind of Albert Oehlen, another painter who isn't afraid to get down and dirty with the medium. It’s a reminder that art is an ongoing conversation, a constant questioning, and that ambiguity can be a strength, not a weakness.
