Ramirez Villamizar made this artwork called 'Eclipse lunar' with paper, paint, and ink. The colours are super controlled, mostly black and white, a kind of lunar language. And that yellow disc is such a brilliant move! It's like he’s not trying to represent the eclipse exactly, but catch its vibe. The shapes feel almost architectural, like he is building the image with blocks of colour. I love how he divides the circle in half, making the eclipse feel both partial and complete, a dance between light and dark. This division speaks to the push and pull of opposites, something that's always on my mind when I’m working in the studio. It makes me think of Sophie Taeuber-Arp, the way she constructed her paintings using simple shapes and forms, creating a similar sense of equilibrium.
