This textile panel, or "Yattha," was made by an anonymous artist. Look at these lines and shapes, all woven together in this incredible way. I can imagine someone sitting for hours, maybe even days, patiently interlacing each thread. And the colors! Oranges and browns, with pops of blue and white, arranged in horizontal bands with these incredible geometric patterns, diamonds, and zigzags. I imagine the weaver wanted to try out the different arrangements and see which looked best. I think that the maker was thinking about their culture, their history, and their place in the world. This panel is a testament to the human desire to create, and the power of art to connect us across time and cultures. Isn't that something?
