Editor: Here we have "Alabasterqipo", by Buchner & Sohn. It is a curious display, almost clinical. What thoughts does it spark in you? Curator: I see a commentary on the commodification of art materials. The very act of packaging and labeling challenges the notion of purity often associated with art creation, and raises questions about who has access to these materials, and what purposes they serve within a broader historical context. Editor: I never thought about it that way! Curator: Consider the historical context. Produced in Munich in 1914, on the cusp of war. Does it speak to the fragility of peace, and the impending societal upheaval that would soon impact artistic production and expression? Editor: That's such a different perspective! I'll definitely remember that.
